Recently, several owls have become viral without any effort. All they had t0 d0 was take a nap! Yes, they did it face down. Yes, they looked incredibly cute and as if they had just returned after a night of drinking at the same time. And yes, probably 99% of people would not even know about it if it were not for the Internet … Well, perhaps their popularity is quite reasonable; maybe I’m just jealous of that.
Journalist Mark Rhys is responsible for perhaps the most successful sleeping owl PR campaign. The picture he wrote on Twitter received more than 119 thousand Likes, which led to the series becoming a celebrity on the Internet on a variety of platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Imgur and, of course, Reddit. Honestly, we could not support or reject Rhys’s explanation that young owls do this because their heads are too heavy. All we know is that they really sleep like that. For example, the non-profit environmental organization National Audubon Society published a soulful story about two locked owls that fell out of their nest. After the children were planted back on the tree, their rescuers watched them recover.
